Why EFTERA exists
Built by a Red Seal, caffeine-fuelled, exhausted worker who got tired of being treated like just another number after 20 years in the trades.
I knew what I earned. I knew my rate. I knew the overtime. What I didn’t always know was what all those hours away, missed milestones and memories were actually building.
I’ve made mistakes. I’ve learned hard lessons. And as the cost of everything kept climbing, I wanted to understand more than what was coming into my bank account. Where was it actually going? Who was getting what share of it? How could I make the money I worked so damn hard for go further — while still planning for the future and all of its uncertainty?
I also got tired of seeing a job presented as “good” because the number attached to it looked good. A rate, rotation or overtime promise is only part of the story.
Because we’re not just trading labour for money. We’re trading time.
Time away from home. Missed milestones and memories. Days, weeks and months of our lives that we don’t get to earn back later. Projects end. Hours change. Layoffs happen. Life happens.
